Sara Connor Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doherty Funeral Homes, Inc. - Pike Creek on Jul. 29, 2023.
Sara Elizabeth Connor, age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2023, one day before her 86th birthday. Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Emma and William Talley. Sara, and her late husband Mark, were married for over 60 years and lived in Greenville, Delaware for most of their lives.
Sara attended Kennett High School and among her many accomplishments was being crowned Queen of the Maypole. Following high school, Sara worked at All American Engineering as a secretary where she met the love of her life, Mark Connor. Together they raised 4 daughters and Sara dedicated her life to her family. She had a knack for decorating and her house always looked beautiful, so much so, she was asked if she would be interested in being an interior designer. Sara loved to cook and was known for her delicious desserts. Every week, and by request, she would bring her cakes, cookies, and pies to the family Sunday dinners.
Sara loved sports and in her younger days, you could spot her jogging, or out on the tennis court or the golf course. She loved to walk. She would go for miles even with her rollator walker.
Sara had 11 grandkids, and 8 great grandkids which kept her very busy. She, along with Mark, loved to attend the kids' sporting events: soccer, tennis, baseball, football, hockey, volleyball, and lacrosse, they loved them all. Mark and Sara also loved getting together every year with the extended family at their favorite vacation spot, Woodloch Pines.
Another love of Sara's was shopping, and it showed. She had an outfit for every occasion. She was always fashionable, earning her the reputation as the "best dressed resident" in her assisted living place at the Residence of Chadds Ford. She also liked to shop for home decorations and her door always reflected the latest holiday.
Sara is predeceased by her parents, William and Emma Talley, husband, Mark J. Connor, and daughters, Sharon M. Lupinski and Deborah A Hobbs. She is survived by her daughters, Terri L. Kelly (John) and Cindy M. White (Terry). She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren: Tommy Lupinski Jr. (Melissa), Lauren DeHart (Scott), Tyler Hobbs (Katie), Kaitlyn Lupinski (Michael), Bryan Kelly, Annie Hobbs, Maddie Kelly, Sara Hobbs, Michael White, Nicole Kelly, Alexis Kelly, as well as 8 great-grandchildren: Connor DeHart, Taylor Lupinski, Alyssa and Adelyn DeHart, Riley Lupinski, Logan Lupinski, Charlotte Hobbs, and Ben Hobbs.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, Delaware on Thursday, August 3 from 9:00 - 10:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM, followed by a private burial service.
